Mobile Mania

I'm dating myself,  but I can remember  when the telephone was a black apparatus that sat on an end table  with a circular  dial that went clickity clack as you turned it and a hand held receiver that you talked into. The whole thing was stationary because it was plugged into the wall with a cord, That was it. When a person said phone thats the picture that came to mind.. A computer was a big box that sat on a desk it too was stationary with it's cord plugged into the wall.
My how the world has changed. Now phones and computers come in all shapes,  sizes and colors, and they are no longer anchored down to just one spot.
The age of mobility is upon us and  growing by leaps and bounds. Sales of  mobile devices, including smartphones and tablet PC's like the ipad continue to grow and are now a multi-billion dollar market and the word on the street is that it will surpass a trillion dollars by 2014.

Another market that has just recently started to explode, with the advent of the iphone and ipad  is the apps market. In 2010 their were 10 billion apps and the industry is projecting 25 billion by the end of 2011. This has opened up a huge opportunity for those who have the desire to produce and or sell these apps.
It is truly amazing how rapidly this market has grown. It makes a body wonder what new markets will be exploding 5 years from now?
Below are some sites for those interested in this expanding market.

THE AGE OF DIGITAL MARKETING

Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and gone and with it the news, that the internet  would produce over 900 million dollars in sales. Which in anyones book is a staggering amount of money, for just one day.
Sales of this magnitude would certainly indicate that we have been catapulted  into the digital age and the retail market is now being dominated by the Internet. It also indicates that retailers and marketers are shifting their focus from the sales floor to the computer, and customers are switching from the Mall to the computer room.
Smart retailers are getting educated  (click) on internet sales and marketing techniques. They are offering special internet discounts and free shipping, which means that internet shoppers from anywhere in the world can get a good deal without ever leaving the house.
With convenience and savings like this, I believe that eventually the entire landscape of retail sales could change almost entirely to buying and selling on a keyboard.
The ultimate definition of letting your fingers do the walking!
